Seeing The Fingerprints

This was on a Sunday walk down our street.  Looking out my window at the cold dreary rain and than looking at these photo’s only makes me want to go back.  Today we are heading to our aunt and uncles to cook for the crowd as they enjoy going to Maui for 8 days….wish I was going in the suitcase, but do hope they have a fabulous trip!!! 

Yes, sweatshirts in Maui are sometimes needed.  That is when you are about 9,000 feet above sea level.  Still had shorts on!! This was the day that we were going to challenge ourselves with a hike.  We have been on Mt. Haleaka in the previous 2 trips to watch the sunset.  This year we didn’t feel like driving on the insane switch back road with all the other tourists after sunset so we went for a day trip.  This mean you have to do something while you are there.  Since my neighbor and Jillian has whipped me into shape the past few months I thought I could easily hand 1600 feet of hiking into the crater to get a view of the closest cone head. ‘ The easiest hike ever was going through my brain as we started going down all these hills.  It doesn’t feel to steep, the walkway is very smooth…….don’t worry at this point your mind is being brainwashed as hiking down the whole time…well is easy! Everything is so barren.  So different than the hikes ...

The Catamaran we are going to be on. Us on the boat!  So excited!  D and I got to sit on the very front where there were trampolines.  Most people were too frightened to sit on them.  Maybe it had something to do with seeing the water through the mesh.  I didn’t care, this was the best spot in the house to watch for the whales.  Oh did I mention that is what we were doing?  We are the hunt for some whales out in the Pacific. Warning these may be more exciting to the owner of the photos! Our first sighting of a whale on the boat….. These are a Mom and her calf.  Humpback whales to not eat when they are in Hawaii.  They come to have their babies and to just have a whole lot of fun!  This Mom is teaching her calf all the moves of a whale.  Then the Male escort that was following the mom and calf came up to check out our boat and to make sure we are harmless. Look how close he got.  It was awesome!  When had fun wat...
