Day 3 in Rome

Image
What are holidays for but to sleep in?  D had to be at conference in the morning on our Day 3 of being in Rome and so that left J and I with no alarms or sounds or anything.  So we nicely slept in again!  Not exactly until noon, but when we did wake up we thought........lets get going and see if we can find some groceries.  Well apparently the closest grocery store was a good 20 minute walk away.  We got  there ok ........but the walk home was a little brutal with each of us carrying a heavy bag of groceries and getting a little lost in a city we don't really know.  We made it back on time to meet up with D who had the afternoon off.  We should've stopped and had that Gelato though before we met up with him. We than proceeded to walk to the Colisseum which was really only 10 minutes away from our apartment.  Enjoy some photo's. The beauty of it from the street a bit higher up.  I'm not if beauty is the right word though.  A...

Home again Home again......jiggetty jig?

So I've been home for over 24hours and now am desperatley wanting to go back and have some heat and sunshine.  This weather is taking control over the house like it really shouldn't.  I.E. setting a dampened mood.  Maybe the ants crawling in a line across my kitchen floor doesn't help out or seeing the weeds outdoors just wanting to be pulled. But I'll just get back to the memories of a great trip instead.  I am currently waiting for all like 511 pictures to download onto the computer.  I guess that isn't too bad for 10 days is it?  Those don't include J's pictures which will need downloading as well. I am having a somewhat mind block on what exactly to blog, so I think I'll post some pictures up and than blog to that? Welcome to our home away from home.  This is the street in Rome where we lived for a few days.  Thats the door to get into our apartment.  They say that the doors are old and the locks on the doors are just as old.  At fir...

2 Canadians travelling in London leaving 1 Canadian in Rome

Hello Everyone You're probably wondering what happened to the updates of this blog while travelling. While our crummy Rome apartment decided the Internet was going to no longer work for us.  Apparently is was our fault. We learned the Italians are very good at blaming you for something that isn't your fault.......or they have a very "good"  excuse about why it is the way it is........ We than travelled to the beautiful Venice where we had no Internet connections other than a cafe and not much time........so all the stories will have to come out when we return home. As for the title....J and I are in London and are heading to bed soon as we have an early wake-up call tomorrow to head home.  Looking forward to seeing the girls when I get back. What about the Canadian in Rome, well he is probably more angry with the Italians than I right now as his one flight was late and he missed his connecting flight home........when he could have  been on our flight and headed h...

Roma

Well we sleep in in the morning and are eager to head out the door.  We come home fairly late in the evening and are beat from walking through this amazing city.  So this post may not be very long either. We settled into our 2 room apartment.  It's pretty narrow, but we're hardly here and so we manage. We've learned the Metro, just have to figure out the bus lines so we don't have to walk so much.  I'm unsure how many KM we walk in a day......but when you get "lost" and walk around the whole Vatican city its a walk!  Oh and that add on to that climbing over 700 stairs to get a beautiful view of Rome.  So worth it....I think? The beauty around us isn't really worth explaining.....even pictures don't give justice to what we've seen in the Vatican. Today we headed out just after noon again today.  This time J and I headed to find a grocery store.  What should've taken us a 1/2 hour probably took us 40 minutes as the streets can get a littl...

ROME

We are here!  After 10 hours of flying and than 2 hours of stopping in Amsterdam walking for at least 3km and going onto another plane ride for 2 more hours we made it.  Than we waited in the Rome airport for my husband to get off of his plane from Tel Aviv.  We were thinking we don't really need to learn Italian but after talking to the guy beside us on the plane he said...."Italians, they don't speak English even in the big cities."  I guess we'll see if we can get around with our "non capesco" .  I'm sure by the time we leave we'll have a few more phrases under our belts. Well after sleeping for 12+hours we decided its time to head out and see a little of the city......and maybe we can get some pictures up on here as well.

Ready to Go? and Baby Girl

Image
I thought I would start my post of with a picture.  A new little niece was born into our family yesterday.  She's just a tiny little peanut at 5lbs 7oz.  I'm glad to have met her before our journey's even though she entered this world 3 weeks early she's healthy.  I'm sure she'll grow like crazy while I'm away. So it's officially the day of travel..........it's 6:30 am and I'm not sure if it's the excitement of the trip that awoke me or the full bladder.  The house is clean!  The bags/suitcases are packed.  Just need to wash all the sheets before I leave and done!  I can't believe this trip is happening in a few hours. Next Post..........Rome, Italy.

My "baby" is two.  This is such a fun age as they grow and change so much.  We had 2 parties for her the past 2 days and she was super excited about it all.  We also fudged her real birthday because her Dad is leaving for 2 weeks.  But this time around her Mom will be catching up with her Dad for 11 out of 14 days. Anyways back to being 2.....here are a few moments of her parties.  They say pictures speak a thousand words so I'll just post those instead. First thing in the morning.  She was pretty excited about the presents and all the balloons up. Hence the Title!  Also she just started pulling these funny faces for the camera.......must be 2! Party with Family and 1 friend. Thankful for our covered patio.  It was raining but we could still eat outdoors. Party # 2 Cow cupcakes.  It was fun going to the candy store to pick out all the pieces to make these cupcakes. I know thy do look a little like pigs, but picks don't have horns! :) T...
