Seeing The Fingerprints

L So it has come to our last day here in El Salvador. I can't wait for the questions when we get home... Yes we felt safe Yes it's beautiful here Yes I would come back but only if I can't think of somewhere else in the world to explore. And meeting our sponsor child was my biggest highlight!!!! Some things I won't miss are crowing roosters and barking stray dogs.  I'm not looking forward to heading back to our winter....but it will be very nice to give all 4 of our children hugs and snuggles.  Today we tried to plan going on a atv tour. There wasn't any atv around to take us though 😞  That's ok we enjoyed all our meals on the beach Read our books on the beach Waded in the warm ocean  Walked along the beautiful beach Enjoyed one last amazing sunset Life is pretty good! It will be a mad dash of Christmas prep when we get home.  The plane ride I will be writing down a grocery list for Saturday night and another for Monday morning.... Here are some last photos ...

Yesterday was our final day in the Sabas hotel. When we arrived we were told to always walk the beach to the left. But after breakfast we thought we would walk the beach to the right.... This to the right...a much poorer part of town then where we stayed.  At breakfast we watched some cute little children who were going to town. They were probably 5 and 3 maybe??? Anyways off the two of them go alone (can't even imagine my kids going to the corner store at that age...) And run through the dirty looking water and the garbage pile happily. Before we knew it they were coming back with we think some fruit. Skipping and smiling until the little guy finds a water bottle in the dirty water and picks it up to take home. I think maybe his sister didn't think it was a good idea either so he got mad plunked to the ground a wouldn't move until the sister let him take the bottle home....I just keep hoping he doesn't get sick! Of course the local people are immune to all the bacteria...

Over 10 years ago we made a decision to start sponsoring a child instead of going on a date. We had sponsored a little girl in Nicaragua but soon after Compassion shut down that project. This doesn't leave a good feeling but we thought we could help the next child.  We were given a little 5 year old girl to support. Through the years we have enjoyed writing letters and sending pictures and seeing her grow on the pictures.  This year in celebration of our 10 year wedding anniversary we tossed around places to go. God guided our desires to El Salvador and granted open doors for this meeting to be set up to meet our child.  Usually compassion needs 8 weeks notice we had 7. Our paperwork all came through quickly and things on the El Salvador side also worked out well.  Our children at home always want to pray for our sponsor children. (We also have one in Kenya).  So it is so nice to be able to meet this special young lady! We had to set an alarm this morning. And h...

As the rooster crowed at 5:55am I rolled over and groaned. I'm not a morning person and could only like of my good friends story of when she was abroad once and how her rooster became dinner....I liked our rooster at the other place. It wasn't a morning rooster either. He didn't crow until 9:30am. Now that's my kind of rooster.  Here is our guard in the morning watering plants. Can you see his big gun? After watching him for a bit we enjoyed an  American sized coffee to jolt us for the rest of the day!  After breakfast we headed down the beach for a walk.  Then it was getting warm out there on our walk so we stopped in at a local restaurant. 5 o'clock somewhere? This fruity watermelon fish bowl was delicious! Sporting my new necklace bought off the beach.... We lounged around for a while took a dive in the pool. Then headed to the town El Tunco (in English The pig) Sitting in another restaurant.  One of the streets into El Tunco Feliz Navidad...still feels so st...

It's our last day here at the La Cocotera. The staff has been so friendly and helpful. The manager and chef have even agreed to let us tag along for a ride to our next location.  They also really gave us chocolate for breakfast this time. You know it's hot out when it's melted to your plate before you can get a picture.  I love that it's a turtle!  The little guys on the resort were still swimming around happily before we left.  These beautiful macaws are also rescued here on resort. Apparently they have become extinct on El Salvador so they also release the baby birds into the wild from this ma and pa bird.  This is the front outside view of our room.  We researched El Salvador a little before we left. It's a high crime place they say....we never locked our door here. Not once! We couldn't actually. We felt very safe!  Selfie on the beach.
