On a journey

 

So today was official packing day for 5 folks in this house.  We will see if the 6th manages to do his packing before the day is over?

It has been a whirlwind of activity around this house the last week and a bit.  The Christmas baking has been mostly completed, the shopping done (ok minus 2 gifts). Birthday party’s for an 8 year old done!  The Mr. has been attending a lot of meetings lately, but everything has been sorted out for our trip.  The kids are all going to be well taken care of, the house is tidy (not sure if will stay that way????)  The last of the laundry piles are either drying or waiting to be dried.  Ironing is done etc. etc. 

So where are the Mr. and I off to….

 

Most of the time when this name comes up that we are travelling here it gets some fun responses. 

“Oh I wouldn’t go there, find somewhere else to go”
”Why in the world are you going there?” (common question)
”Is your husband doing business there?”  (cause why else would we go right?)

And other responses.

I like my sisters answer to someone the best.  “They have been everywhere else!”  (Which isn’t true…….ok maybe for the Mr.)

The whole idea of going to this up and coming resort country was to find a not so touristy place, not to expensive for touristy things and the best reason of all to hopefully meet our sponsor child!

We are absolutely thrilled that we were given permission to meet our sponsor daughter that we’ve known via paper and pictures for the last 10 years.  It will be so nice to just give her a big hug!

I’m hoping to be able to blog our story while we are travelling, but I’m unsure of our internet connections and such at this time.  So stay tuned!  Tomorrow is travel day!

A little bubbly

This was the very first night that I officially slept well.  Finally transitioned over to the Dutch time zone.... Started the day with by filling the stomach with a good Dutch style breakfast.  If you're not Dutch could you guess what it is? With full stomachs we headed out for the day.  It was a rather frightening start down the skinny Dutch little road.  It barely can handle a bike and a car passing each other.  So to our surprise a massive semi truck was barreling down the road.  We pulled over in a pullout but  became trapped between a large truck and the canal. That canal was not looking too pretty for a swim.... Glad we didn't end up going for that swim and the we had no extra rental car bills to pay as the truck nearly missed the sideview mirror.  After safely arriving to the park n' ride we caught the bus.  This is a fantastic system if you're in Holland!  It cost 5 Euro to park the car and ride the bus for up to 5 people! ...

Trips and treasures

A little while ago I put the link back up on my social media page from a blog about Mother's Day.  Although I get very emotional about the day and the upcoming to the day with my precious Mom being in heaven, I do remember that I have the honour of celebrating motherhood and celebrating with other mothers in my life.  I know it can be a difficult day for many in different ways.   My one little guy who hangs out with me a lot gave me a special treat when I was down....how can you not resist his smile, with a card, cup of water and an apple all delivered with that big smile and even bigger heart. Shortly after that day I was given the privilege of going on a much desired field trip with my daughter.  If you know me at all, or even through this blog you know how much I desire the ocean and the wonders of it.  This trip to Salt Spring Islands did not fail me or my wonder of our wonderful creator.  We have so much more to experience from the ocean..... ...

 Turned the calendar to 2021 a while ago and just have not sat down behind the computer to type away in a while.  I just had those summer 2020 blog posts waiting to be completed.  At last that goal was accomplished and I feel like the rest of 2020 went awash......I made a video to summarize our year and felt like that was good enough to complete the year.   I won't say our 2021 had the most marvellous start.  Our family was in isolation and I can't remember what day it was of 24 days being inside our home that we rolled the new year in.  However we were loved upon by many family members and friends over the time of being indoors.  Also what better time in the world to be "stuck" at home as you can get your grocery deliveries and any other shopping done and delivered all within 24 hours.  We did not suffer.  We may have been a little stir crazy at points, but we made the best of it!
