In Memory of Dad
The words don't come easily this time around. The grief of the past year has swirled around and all the firsts were experienced without our Dad about. What do you say....you need to move on. Somedays are easier than others and somedays you don't want to go through, but you do, because we live in the land of the living. We have a testimony to give, this world is only but a breaking ground for what is to come. This earth is a temporary home, the brokenness of it, in it will pass away one day, but today we keep on living. May our Heavenly Father continue to surround our family as we live without people we love. May He give us the strength to be a living testimony and a light shining to those in darkness, even if we feel dark some days, may even that little spark of light give others hope!
Precious are these memories when we went over for Dad day visits. This was the mr. E's birthday....we celebrated with cupcakes. He received money from my Dad and was just on the moon! (Can you see that sparkle of love in his eye...)
And that table, really that was his table. One big mess! I remember trying to tidy that thing every week, but not wanting to mess with it too much.....he had notes and meds and junk all over the place, but if you messed with it you may get a phone call asking where it went. I miss tidying the table.
A few of us carry on a bit of his habits, like note taking and putting them everywhere, or only drinking 7/8ths of our coffee/tea/water and tossing the rest in the sink, or leaving our desks super messy. Even if these aren/t necessarily good things, they do hold good memories of Dad, this is was who he was!
The most treasured memory was his Bible on top of that pile always and reading it was a priority in his life. In and among all the messiness was something sturdy and strong. Hopefully we can carry that habit along with us as well for the rest of our lives!

Love you sweety!! Praying for you today! And forever. ๐ Praying you see blessings today and many reasons for thankfulness. Write them down and post them everywhere. ๐
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm guilty of the note taking....unsure if the husband would appreciate them all over the house :)
DeleteSending some love to you today. I love your write-up. Praying for you and your whole family.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julia.
DeleteThinking of you today, Carla. It's a difficult thing to carry on without a parent especially when you've helped to care for them for a time. We will continue to hold you and your family in our prayers.
ReplyDeletethanks Mary-Ann....it was just a small task to take care of parents for a while for all they did for us
