The continuation of the Dutch travel series

The second morning we may have transferred over to local time. 
Although its hard to know if we were waking up just because of some funky time changing or if it was that crazy rooster crowing between 4:30-7:30.  Regardless we had a whole choir going. First the rooster. Then 1 pigeon and an echo of another with the loud kick of the horses the mooing of the calves. It was an interesting morning. Sleeping in town may be quieter then in the attic of the barn!

Our goal this am was to leave the house. By 9am. We almost met that goal and left by 9:15.

This coffee was a decent size for Holland and it was to kick in some more energy for the day.

We headed off to Rotterdam and Kinderdijk for the adventures of the day. The clouds were attempting to pour down on us but shifted to bluer skies with only a few spots of rain. We explored the location where my Dad and D's grandparents left their country of birth for a new beginning. What a unimaginable thing to do! They left never expecting to see their families again.

We hopped on a water bus to take us too Kinderdijk.  A nice 1/2hr ride and a great place for a quick nap.  (Boats and cars are so easily to fall asleep on...why are jets so difficult? anyone else have that problem?)

Glad I didn't have to sleep in this bed....I'd rather have the rooster wake me up then cram in here.

Being TRUE tourists!!

We enjoyed exploring the old windmills and seeing how life was like inside some of them.  What a thing to keep Holland from sinking back into the sea!  Nothing like a stubborn Dutchmen?? :)

Exploring Old Rotterdam!

We headed back to Rotterdam to explore some old old buildings.  It was just peaceful walking through the streets, plus the sun was shining during the walk making it that much more enjoyable!  Ok there was one part of the city that I wasn't feeling too comfortable walking down.  

After all the exploring we were getting a little hungry so we just had to try a mckroket.  This was a first for us and it was a fantastic appetizer to end our time in Rotterdam.

All good days have to come to a close so we headed to Woerden to stop at a small restaurant for dinner. This was after we drove past it as the GPS told us we could drive down a 1-way street the wrong way....

We arrived back to our place 12.5 hrs later all ready to crash into bed! 

The next days challenge is to see who will sleep through the rooster noises the longest!
