2018 Reflections
What a year we have been gifted in 2018. I am listening to Christmas music thanking God for gifting us His Son, so that we can be washed white as snow. What a relationship they have, Father and Son. Perfect obedience, perfect Love. "How many kings have abandoned their thrones, or how many Fathers gave up their sons for me" (Downhere)
With the Spirit given to us to be driven to want that perfection. Praise the Lord for allowing this to happen...
Our 2018 began with this sunrise.
It has been a year full of so many wonderful relationships and experiences. Sometimes I don't think we thank the people who are involved in our life regularly, or occasionally with the knowledge for how grateful we are for them!
2018 Started out with going back to University for me. I am thankful for my family who puts up with my tunnel vision when it came to writing papers, or studying for exams. The house suffers, the baking dwindles, but there is a constant feeling of love from them supporting me on this journey.
Even in and amongst the studying the Mr. and I managed to sneak away in January with the two of us. I discovered new things about myself. #fearofsharks Even if they tell me that it is this fearless nurse shark, it doesn't look fearless. However I look forward to the day when the waters can be explored without any fear of being in danger. It is just a vast world of wonderment down in the waters....
In February we hit the slopes of Sunpeaks and skied with the entire family. No more excuses to stay snuggled up in the condo and hang out with the littles all day! 3/4 kids are doing jumps and waiting for me at the bottom of the hill. Good thing their Dad keeps up with them!
Then came a time for dreams to come true. My mother-in-law has been wanting to fly in a helicopter for a very long time. We waited in a long line for this to happen, but it did indeed. So thankful for sharing this opportunity with her and the girls!
A time to tear down! Thankful for the extended VL family for helping us tear down our sketchy deck for the exchange of birthday cake and lunch.
Celebrating Motherhood....thankful for this little man for understanding the roughness of that day for me! A little bit of chocolate and a big heart go a long way.
What a blessing to be part of community. Salt Spring Islands with my daughters class was such a wonderful experience. I really hope to go again one day! Nothing like camping in long grass and waking up to the crash of the water.
And who gets to do this??? Hang out with 2nd cousins and great-aunts who are the best ever!!
Or have friends make your daughters birthday cake and share the load of a birthday party! Isn't this cake adorable?!
Out on another field trip....never too old to learn!
Thankful for a hard working spouse to get the old machine working.
Celebrating Fatherhood
Or borrowing Grandpa and Grandma's board for fun times
Decorating cupcakes for VBS
Or making special birthday dinners
Hiking with grandparents!
Celebrating Life! (Big Birthdays)
Love these siblings of mine
Or learning the importance of your neighbourhood and special community helpers like fire fighters! So thankful we were home when our neighbours house went up in flames so we could call the fire department. However the neighbours won't be back in their home for a very long time.
This was a very traumatic experience. Thankful for the firemen and neighbours for working together.
Another beautiful thing is having special out of country guests coming to hang out! THE BEST!!!
Thankful for the fun times of being a junior reporter. Free airshow tickets!
Celebrating with a lot of family in our newly built up yard.
Wine is good too! Thankful for the jobs and wonderful bosses we have.
Friends to bake with!!! Yummy homemade donuts
A time to harvest!
Time spent learning about our Father and Saviour at Cedar springs along with my sister and friends
Heading to the "big" city with family
Although 2018 is not at a close quite yet, we have been so richly blessed with wonderful relationships. Every time someone checks in with a text message, FB message, phone call, tap on the shoulder, phone call we are thankful for you! May the year of 2019 be a blessing for you and your families, friendships and relationships.
