Seeing The Fingerprints

Well I thought i was over the jet lag.....but I was awake between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30am. Sigh! The rooster started around 4  but eventually I fell asleep again. We had another time commitment this am which isn't great for when you lose 2 hours of sleep. But the adventures had to continue! After groggily getting up out of bed the 2 morning people in the group had breakfast prepared and it tasted delicious. (Good thing they were along or I'd be behind schedule for hours that day)  We made it a little late to meet up with our cousin to explore the thousands upon thousands of beautiful tulips. We enjoyed the smells of hyacinth surrounding the area. All done in the famous Keukonhoff.  We were Dodging the tourists or staring them down. (When your with a local your not a tourist right??) The second morning we may have transferred over to local time.  Although its hard to know if we were waking up just because of some funky time changing or if it was that crazy rooster crowing between 4:30-7:30.   Regardless we had a whole choir going. First the rooster. Then 1 pigeon and an echo of another with the loud kick of the horses the mooing of the calves. It was an interesting morning. Sleeping in town may be quieter then in the attic of the barn! Our goal this am was to leave the house. By 9am. We almost met that goal and left by 9:15.  The men examining the guts of our hybrid car before we left for the day. This coffee was a decent size for Holland and it was to kick in some more energy for the day. We headed off to Rotterdam and Kinderdijk for the adventures of the day. Friday morning i was woken up by our 4 yr old in tears and then big snuggles and hugs. He wasn't ready for us to leave on our trip.   Big brother came rolling in to encourage him that he was going to get to play he role of big brother for the next few days and how super exciting that was going to be.  But this big brother too soon came down with tears as well. And so my heart was a little bit torn with sadness as I was leaving them behind. Thankfully I know they would be under fantastic care and all will be fine.  D worked from home in the morning and I finished up the last of the house cleaning and packing my suitcase while being questioned by the little guy (it's hard to get things done with a million questions). 😊 By 11amish we said good bye to all the kiddos and by noon we drove uneventfully to the airport.
