Biking, Yard, Couch, Truck

A random title, but those are things going on in our lives currently.

We have been working on our yard a little today………no pictures yet as I’m waiting for the rest of the hedge to hopefully be removed sometime next week.  Than it will be ready to re-do the whole backyard and make it a great place to spend time in this summer.  We eat every meal outdoors in the summer, yes even our breakfast as the patio table is as close to the kitchen as the dining room table.  Oh summer, looking forward to it.

Talking about warm days spring has sprung and that means we as a family are starting to get outdoors a little more.  We did some biking the past days and tried out our trailer.  The kids just LOVE it.  I on the other hand need a good whipping in to shape!

IMG_5594IMG_5596You just have to love little E’s grin on this photo.   I wonder if he did that the whole bike ride.  He never made a peep!  Also note his arm safely tucked under his sisters.

And B with her Daddy!  She rode on the back of my bike and anytime I tried to stand up and peddle faster to catch up (yes I’m out of shape) she’d yell “not too fast mommy!”  Made me feel a little better about being way behind.

 

And the last two things on the title include couch…….out with the old in with the new in a week after they deliver it.  Oh and we bought a mattress finally for the bottom bunk.  So my dear sister when you read this you can now officially sleep here! Smile

And the last thing on the list is a truck.  My dear husband has been driving the old civic around for years and well a truck is always handy………….so we are on the hunt.  We’ve gone out 2 days now shopping and even have my brother in law in Calgary on the hunt for us too!

Well the cinnamon buns (yumm) are baked, so that means back outdoors….

A little bubbly

This was the very first night that I officially slept well.  Finally transitioned over to the Dutch time zone.... Started the day with by filling the stomach with a good Dutch style breakfast.  If you're not Dutch could you guess what it is? With full stomachs we headed out for the day.  It was a rather frightening start down the skinny Dutch little road.  It barely can handle a bike and a car passing each other.  So to our surprise a massive semi truck was barreling down the road.  We pulled over in a pullout but  became trapped between a large truck and the canal. That canal was not looking too pretty for a swim.... Glad we didn't end up going for that swim and the we had no extra rental car bills to pay as the truck nearly missed the sideview mirror.  After safely arriving to the park n' ride we caught the bus.  This is a fantastic system if you're in Holland!  It cost 5 Euro to park the car and ride the bus for up to 5 people! ...

Trips and treasures

A little while ago I put the link back up on my social media page from a blog about Mother's Day.  Although I get very emotional about the day and the upcoming to the day with my precious Mom being in heaven, I do remember that I have the honour of celebrating motherhood and celebrating with other mothers in my life.  I know it can be a difficult day for many in different ways.   My one little guy who hangs out with me a lot gave me a special treat when I was down....how can you not resist his smile, with a card, cup of water and an apple all delivered with that big smile and even bigger heart. Shortly after that day I was given the privilege of going on a much desired field trip with my daughter.  If you know me at all, or even through this blog you know how much I desire the ocean and the wonders of it.  This trip to Salt Spring Islands did not fail me or my wonder of our wonderful creator.  We have so much more to experience from the ocean..... ...

2021

 Turned the calendar to 2021 a while ago and just have not sat down behind the computer to type away in a while.  I just had those summer 2020 blog posts waiting to be completed.  At last that goal was accomplished and I feel like the rest of 2020 went awash......I made a video to summarize our year and felt like that was good enough to complete the year.   I won't say our 2021 had the most marvellous start.  Our family was in isolation and I can't remember what day it was of 24 days being inside our home that we rolled the new year in.  However we were loved upon by many family members and friends over the time of being indoors.  Also what better time in the world to be "stuck" at home as you can get your grocery deliveries and any other shopping done and delivered all within 24 hours.  We did not suffer.  We may have been a little stir crazy at points, but we made the best of it!
