2 year old in the house

So my last post was about our youngest child having a birthday.  He’s 2 and although it’s my favorite stage and age in watching my children grow he has become my most challenging, heart attack giving child yet. He makes us laugh often especially when he becomes like a dinosaur. So there are mixed feelings about this age and stage with him.

The heart attack event happened about 1 week after we moved into our new home.  We live on a busy street now but have a much bigger yard……..so the thoughts of him staying in the yard seemed reasonable no?  So much fun in that big lawn.  Well we purchased him a play lawn mower and we have a tiny strip of grass right beside the road that really needed a mow in his mind……so off he snuck in the 3 minutes I didn’t check on him if he was still in the backyard.  And started mowing the lawn out beside the road.  Needless to say it was rush hour as people were starting to head home from work.  Cars thankfully were slowing down and 2 strangers took matters into there own hands.  1 by contacting a police officer down the road to alertness and another pulling in my driveway by trying to lure him back home.  By this point my other kids who were nicely staying in the backyard came running out and discovered he was by the road and came running in to tell me.  I tried to remain calm and the police officer gave me a few questions…..needless to say the lawn mower has been put to storage and little guy isn’t allowed outdoors without constant eyes.  Our child was kept safe that day by his guardian angel and we are thankful to not have any injuries.

The following day he was playing with his sisters purses, managed to get one over his head and behold it was stuck on him…….to his sisters tears I had to cut it off.  Don’t worry with the sewing machine the sister was happy the next morning again.

He’s constantly trying to figure out how anything works.  He also has been into all my drawers as of late and baking for me…….he’s a definite curious little boy.  I’ve had complete strangers tell me he’s going to become an engineer one day.  (little do they know what his dad does)

We love this little roaring dinosaur and we’re thankful he’s been a part of our lives for the past 2 years.  I’m sure he’s not nearly done giving us some more amazing adventures.  Those big brown eyes and hugs are so worth the trouble he can cause Smile

Here are some photos of his birthday parties….we went with a car type theme. I follow pinterest and love finding ideas.

J was thankful Uncle Q could be sung to as well.  He doesn’t love being the center of attention and Uncle Q talked him through the whole song.IMG_6393IMG_6395

Cousins and presents.

This time J was sung to alone…I know the cupcakes are the same, but different guests.  As you can see it was all a little too much for him and he didn’t like the singing!IMG_6399

What’s in that big bag…….everyone wants to know.

This time when we had his friends over they sang far away and no one was really looking at him, so it went ok.  Or maybe because it was the third occurrence he could handle it…IMG_6404

Stoplight rice krispies….I’m a big fan of rice krispie cakes.  No mess and the kids eat them!IMG_6406IMG_6407IMG_6408

He was just thrilled with his presents!
