Anniversary get-a-way
The day of travel or before always seems to need some sort of medical attention.....last trip it was a root canal. This time the kids had terrible colds and needed meds. It only took me like 200 km of driving and 4+ hours of my day to sort out a Dr. Visit and the proper pharmacist to assist. Hopefully Ms. A is starting to pick up and the others aren't getting any worse. Hard on a me as a mom to leave them like this, but the dr said anyone can bring them in if need be. What a blessing our medical system is. After that day i was ready to pack and get on a plane.....
So we did a quick shopping trip before the airport that was fun. Stocked up on some delicious chocolate....because who can resist a Lindt chocolate on sale???
Left the vehicle behind in the lot hopped on the bus towards the airport, entered the airport and breezed through security. Yes, we by passed the massive line up with the lovely nexus card and were off to our gate. At this point we usually have time for a Starbucks, but with the late hour we voted that down. We were going to attempt to sleep on this red-eye flight....
The flight from Vancouver to Toronto was relatively uneventful. Always a good thing when you fly. We did manage to say happy anniversary to each other around 1:00 am after sleeping for a little bit. Earliest we've ever said that too each other ....even if we were lacking sleeping it was still kind of cool. We were probably somewhere over the Manitoba skies. We landed in Toronto a little while later. This is when your body gets all messed up from flying a red eye. Everyone is hustling and bustling through the airport like its bright and early in the morning (which it was local time). All the red eye flyers have big bags under their eyes and look confused...... Unsure if you're hungry for breakfast and coffee or grumbling from lack of sleep. Bright lights sure confuse the body!
Sitting in Toronto trying to figure out if we should eat or not eat while waiting for our flight was fun. I just love people watching. So this flight that was in our gate waited and waited for a passenger who was stuck in customs and couldn't get through with their family of 5 waiting for them.....es the whole flight was put on hold for this passenger and the 5 others to make it through. Talk about customer service!!! Wow!
Within minutes our flight crew took over the gate and was organizing things for our flight and we started loading. Well as D and I were walking down the aisle on the plane these 2 men behind me start yelling at this guy....."why do you keep staring at us??" (Yikes i have to be careful with my people watching skills). Well this other guys mom totally breaks out and starts yelling at these guys to leave her son alone. More yelling and cussing etc. I've never seen anything like this on a flight. I kind of brushed it off as who cares if someone stared someone else down right? You however could feel an unease on the plane from the incident....and before you knew it the captain and flight attendants were on there game and telling these guys they needed to get off the plane....though they weren't going to listen at first. I stepped back into the aisle and told these guys they better listen to the captain. (Unsure what i was thinking i just did) They left the plane at that point....yes were another flight that needed to wait for passengers. The crew and captain handled the incident really well....both parties were removed from the flight and the threat was gone. FYI if you threaten anyone on a airplane you will be removed!!! The rest of the flight was relatively relaxing. We even were given an anniversary cake with fruit. Thanks to the plus class seating not being fully occupied.....and me telling the crew we were celebrating our anniversary.
With the flying over and the body in full on confusion we landed safely tin Miami Florida. We had some time to kill before getting into our place here. So we were trying to decide to we eat a breakfast or a lunch or what....lol. We compromised and an egg on a burger and had a brunch.
We finally were allowed into our place after a grocery shop trip. And its fantastic here. We can hear the ocean waves crashing off our deck and smell the salt water. But seeing that king size bed called for a much needed nap!
This is our condo in Miami
Waking up groggy for a nap we took a walk down the beach by our place followers with cooking up dinner. After a delicious dinner made by the husband for our anniversary we realized we forgot about dessert. So off to store we decided to walk this time. Originally i thought it would be fun to walk the beach in the down pour....oh yes it rains here too just like back at home, the difference its warm rain. Anyways the walk to the store for dessert was fun. The winds were blowing pretty hard i felt like my sandals were going to blow off. You can almost lean into the winds. We were told these winds were stronger than any hurricane winds that blew in a few weeks ago around here. So yes it was windy. Our walk back to our place finally called for that walk in the rain......it always looks romantic in the movies. It was pretty fun! Maybe you should try it one day??
The waves crashing in behind
Walk down the beach...
condo, hotel, condo, hotel etc. for miles
Attempt to eat dinner outdoors on the patio.....
But we would've got too wet...
Dinner indoors while watching the rain.
Unsure if you can see the rain or this video, but it was pretty crazy and that is what we walked in later.
That was the end of the travels and the first day....as well as our anniversary.
(I'll edit with a few photos on return)
I figure these guys on the plane thought you were the Sheriff Carla! That's why they turned around meekly and left the airplane. It's too bad the video didn't work for us. We're looking forward to reading the next installment.
ReplyDeleteThe video didn't work for me, either.
