Family Travel....15 days away from home

We decided to do some travelling within our own beautiful country.  Really we almost started out our trip in our own backyard.  Yes!  We camped in our own town and it was super fun.  We love going to the Abbotsford International Airshow annually.  It's such  fun family event!  However it was a last minute decision to camp at the airshow this year which added a little chaos to the beginings of our travels.
Between kids getting to Birthday parties, me helping do a photo shoot and having to pick up the camping trailer and pack it all within a few hours you could probably image the sweat pouring off my back and the fear that I probably  missed a few things while packing....
Needless to say we managed to get on the road relatively on time and head to the airshow.  it was a fun fabulous event again.  We even had very friendly neighbours in the campground that shared some dropjes and chats :) We met up with friends (family) from out of town....hung out with my bro and his family (annual tradition right guys??)  Creating all kinds of fun memories in our minds and hearts.  We look forward to our Dutch family coming back to town one day to enjoy these festivities with us.... (you know who you are!)









After a fun and fantastic evening and being well fed at breakfast the next morning put on the flying club we headed out towards the Ferry.  We stopped to grab a few things on the way that we didn't own and could use for our camping trip!  We managed to get in our 10,000 steps before heading onto the Ferry thanks to the massive shopping mall we were at.   It was finally time to head onto the big BC Ferry Boat.  Some for the first time and others again, but it was all like a brand new experience as it has been so long that they don't remember what the Ferry was like!  I was hoping the littles guys would be thrilled!!!! However experiencing the thrill of the airplanes the evening before they won out over the Ferry any day..... (I guess staying up late the night before to watch fireworks didn't help the mood)
The Ferry safely brought us to Vancouver Island and after some dinner it was time to drive down the narrow windy highway to our campground.  It some of the kids minds this took FOREVER!  (others had long fell asleep and it all passed in a blur).  The ocean views during the drive are wonderful to see.  It also started raining while we were driving....but it was something we were thankful to see as the fires in our province are so terrible.  And really we couldn't complain about a little rain.  The trailer is waterproof and cozy!
We arrived safely to our campsite Juan de Fuca Provincial park (China Beach) in the dark, but managed to park the trailer in record time while absorbing the rain....

A little bubbly

This was the very first night that I officially slept well.  Finally transitioned over to the Dutch time zone.... Started the day with by filling the stomach with a good Dutch style breakfast.  If you're not Dutch could you guess what it is? With full stomachs we headed out for the day.  It was a rather frightening start down the skinny Dutch little road.  It barely can handle a bike and a car passing each other.  So to our surprise a massive semi truck was barreling down the road.  We pulled over in a pullout but  became trapped between a large truck and the canal. That canal was not looking too pretty for a swim.... Glad we didn't end up going for that swim and the we had no extra rental car bills to pay as the truck nearly missed the sideview mirror.  After safely arriving to the park n' ride we caught the bus.  This is a fantastic system if you're in Holland!  It cost 5 Euro to park the car and ride the bus for up to 5 people! ...

Trips and treasures

A little while ago I put the link back up on my social media page from a blog about Mother's Day.  Although I get very emotional about the day and the upcoming to the day with my precious Mom being in heaven, I do remember that I have the honour of celebrating motherhood and celebrating with other mothers in my life.  I know it can be a difficult day for many in different ways.   My one little guy who hangs out with me a lot gave me a special treat when I was down....how can you not resist his smile, with a card, cup of water and an apple all delivered with that big smile and even bigger heart. Shortly after that day I was given the privilege of going on a much desired field trip with my daughter.  If you know me at all, or even through this blog you know how much I desire the ocean and the wonders of it.  This trip to Salt Spring Islands did not fail me or my wonder of our wonderful creator.  We have so much more to experience from the ocean..... ...

2021

 Turned the calendar to 2021 a while ago and just have not sat down behind the computer to type away in a while.  I just had those summer 2020 blog posts waiting to be completed.  At last that goal was accomplished and I feel like the rest of 2020 went awash......I made a video to summarize our year and felt like that was good enough to complete the year.   I won't say our 2021 had the most marvellous start.  Our family was in isolation and I can't remember what day it was of 24 days being inside our home that we rolled the new year in.  However we were loved upon by many family members and friends over the time of being indoors.  Also what better time in the world to be "stuck" at home as you can get your grocery deliveries and any other shopping done and delivered all within 24 hours.  We did not suffer.  We may have been a little stir crazy at points, but we made the best of it!
