Turned the calendar to 2021 a while ago and just have not sat down behind the computer to type away in a while. I just had those summer 2020 blog posts waiting to be completed. At last that goal was accomplished and I feel like the rest of 2020 went awash......I made a video to summarize our year and felt like that was good enough to complete the year.
I won't say our 2021 had the most marvellous start. Our family was in isolation and I can't remember what day it was of 24 days being inside our home that we rolled the new year in. However we were loved upon by many family members and friends over the time of being indoors. Also what better time in the world to be "stuck" at home as you can get your grocery deliveries and any other shopping done and delivered all within 24 hours. We did not suffer. We may have been a little stir crazy at points, but we made the best of it!
Building forts hasn't happened in a long time in our house, but thanks to isolating this fun activity appeared again.
Dressing up with loads of laughter!
Art is good therapy!
Look what you can make out of one of those packaged boxes that came to our door.
Our very first outing of the year 2021 included going for dinner.
Below are many other events that we have been doing since being allowed to leave our home.
Outdoor Family Walks are becoming more frequent
Make the most of time at home and Just Dance!
Enjoying my custom deck with a good book and beautiful views.
Skiing with cousins on the local mountain
Oohing and ageing over a locally made charcuterie board in celebration of Valentines day.
Outdoor pond skating at the farm.
Ski and Skate Trip to Sunpeaks
More Outdoor Family Walks
Snowshoeing time with family
From a mountain into the playground
Jumping for joy as we travel to Victoria
Family Bike Trip
Catching Butterflies on our shoes
At the ocean! My favourite place to be.
Being amazed by the sea creatures.
A summary of the first 3 months of 2021....
Just trying to live the ordinary in the not so ordinary. I would love to have photos of our full face in all of these photos instead of those masks. However it's the way of the world at the moment and its a question of will it ever be what it was before?
All the events we are doing still seems ordinary enough, however in the back of my mind you're always thinking about where you placed your mask, or did you sanitize your hands. Whatever you do don't get close to the humans outside of your household, remember the 2meters apart.
We are also longing for spending time worshiping with others again.
Hosting family dinners without the thought of being fined.
Catching up with friends whenever and wherever.
What about you? What sort of things are you looking forward to again?
"Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up."
Proverbs 12:25
These words are a great reminder to look out for your neighbour in the best possible way you can. Even though these times can feel weighty, remember that something simple like kind words can cheer young your neighbour up.
So many good memories - and the year has just started! We're thankful for all of you, and all the blessings you bring. We're looking forward to many more precious memories together!
