Part 2 of Road Trip 2020

 We left B.C. for more than a few hours this day....it was time to drive all the way on the Columbia ice field highway and journey to our next campground, Wabasso, Jasper.  Even though it was a beautiful drive with a lot of wildlife on route there are no photos documenting the day.  Thankful for making it safely and setting up camp at our new site for a few days.  

The next day was more adventurous.  We were going to meet family on a glacier, but before we arrived there we took a stop at the Athabasca Falls.  One stop worth visiting!

As I reflected on this photo I realized the backdrop, take a look at the mountain in all its splendour in the background.  I never noticed all the colours on it before until taking a look at this photo again.  Wow!

On the steepest road of North America....

The Whole Crew

...little did we know that we would be one of the last travellers on the ice fields for the year.  Just over a week after we walked on this glacier there was a tragic accident with a bus rolling over and killing and injuring some tourists.  Thankful for God's protection when we journeyed on his magnificent creation here.

Up next was the skywalk.......It was not frightening at all!  Even after we all took up one section of glass to see how much bounce we could get out of it.  That just created more giggles!

It's great having guests who can take family photos......another classic of mr J.  Why would he cooperate.

On our travels back to the campground we were delighted to meet up with these 20 goats grazing on the side of the highway.  We also witnessed our first ever Grizzly Bear in the wild.  He was quite far away to capture a photo of him, but we sat and watched for a while he sauntered through the field.  Wouldn't want to meet up with him up close in person... (stay tuned).

Back at the campsite probably stuffing our faces full of food or something.

This ends another night in the Jasper location.  Crisp skies that soon glitter with starlight.

The next day of our adventures started out at the location of Pyramid Lake

Thats a fairly big statement and a good way to sum up the day on the lake that involved his uncles kayaks.

Thanks Uncle M for taking those along and making a Childs dreams come true!!

While many of the crew was off in kayaks it was a desperate time for clean laundry.  Being on the road for that long it was time to get some clean clothes once more!  A little shopping in the town of Jasper doesn't hurt while you're waiting right?  The bake shop and coffee shop didn't dissapoint.

These two also decided to brave the chilly waters and go for a swim....I don't think they lasted overly long, but now they can say that they swam in Pyramid lake.

After our adventures for the day we relaxed back at the campground for a while ate some yummy camping food and then headed out to an absolute gorgeous hike at Edith Cavel glacier.  It was worth the curvy windy road to see!

We did get a little drenched on our hike down, but nothing a hot chocolate couldn't fix later.

New Day....

Happy Birthday to this special Man in our lives.  What a way to celebrate out in the rockies!!

There was a herd of Elk right in the campground.    The kids were calling this "Netflix Show" the best of the whole trip.  One of the Elk's was making calls for the group which was neat to hear as its not something you hear every day.  Also it was fun to watch all the babies roaming around being curious.  The park rangers did chase them out of the campground as these mama elk are not something you want to mess with.

Dessert made by the girls!  The sprinkles actually were too hard to chew....but they made for some great fire entertainment at the end of the evening :)

Just like that another day was over, but many memories were made!
