Off the Grid!!!

So we were camping with no cell phone reception!  It was kind of nice!  No one can bother you via email and social media pressures were out of the question.  Although my adopted grandmother wasn't doing well so I was a little anxious about not having any news.  (She's well now and back at home).
The whole experience is a little like a fast/cleansing.  Rather than electronics we headed out into creation.  We managed to see 3 bears in one day!  How fantastic was that!!  One bear running in front of us across the road and a Mama bear with her cub on the beach.  So beautiful.  (Kept the kids far away from them)  We observed the mama and her cub as they were climbing around the rocks on an island shuffling through the trees.  They then climbed down and started walking to wherever they needed to go!
We explored the tide pools in Port Renfrew.  The Mr. and I haven't been there since the day we were engaged.  Brought back great memories and it was fun to educate the kids about tide pools.  Sadly no sea stars were to be found in any tide pools.  Apparently there is a disease that is going around killing them off.  Hopefully they don't go extinct and we will still get to enjoy these beautiful creatures.

This is my favourite photo of the day!!!  Such seriousness and excitement for a tide pool.  A world on its own!

After roaming the beaches and exploring it was time to explore China beach right by our campground.  We thought we were engaged on the beach, but everything was wrong from what we could remember........either the beach changed a lot or our memories have failed us a lot??
Anyways down on this most beautiful sand we danced in and by the Pacific Ocean!!  When you look out in the Pacific ocean they say the next thing you'd be able to see is China.

Our oldest decided to brave the tent alone for the night.  She set it all up and it was her space!

After the tent was set up the park ranger came around and encouraged the kids to do the parks scavenger hunt.  A small prize was a good incentive so that got them going.  It also helped us complete over 10,000 steps for a third day in a row!!!
We will see how the kiddo does in the big tent alone.....
