Our Oregon Experience

Well its official we made it in our tent in Oregon for 4 whole nights.  The experience was fun.  The kids loved it and slept extremely well after those long hard days being outdoors.  We began our holiday in a hotel in Everett.  It was dark by the time we arrived and weren't too thrilled with the idea of setting up camp in the dark......so a beautiful, warm hotel we stayed at.  B had nicely fallen asleep on the way as well as A.  But A was too curious about everything going on around her once we got to the hotel she stayed awake for way too long afterwards.  This made it difficult for D to get C a late night pregnancy snack from the corner store without A wanting some too!  We didn't give in to her desires as we told her she should be sleeping anyways.
The next morning we had "free" breakfast from the hotel.  We were up and at them fairly early so we even could sneak into the pool for an hour swim before we left the hotel.  Both girls just loved that!  Of course after this swim the girls were still hungry and so we went down for breakfast round 2 while D worked for a bit.  We ate round 2 in the hotel room while watching cartoons on TV.
Than on the road we went for a 6 hour drive to our destination........Beachside, Oregon.  The girls travelled well thanks to their cousins lending them their DVD player for the road.  The campsite we wanted to stay at was completely full so we had to find somewhere else.  We managed to get the last spot in a forestry campsite down the road.  It was really nice as we could walk about 30 steps right onto the beach and watch a beautiful sunset that night.
Yes, that would be the almost 4 year old who couldn't manage to walk the few steps down the stairs and the determined 2 year old who did!

Mmmm Mom not so sure about this ocean.......

yes, run, run and run some more we want you to sleep well tonight!

Which she didn't!  Our 2 year old hit the pillow and was out for the night.  A didn't sleep so well.  We weren't sure if it was because it was soooooooo cold out there, but every time I felt her she was really warm.  Finally after about 4 hours of waking up and crying every few minutes she confessed she needed to go to the bathroom.  So we bundled up really well and went for that short little walk to the bathrooms.  This is when camping in the parents camper is much more convenient.  The rest of the night we managed to sleep somewhat peacefully.  Well after D figured out why he was so cold as it went down to 6 degrees Celsius as the opposed 12 degree Celsius is was supposed to be, and he put on his hoodie and socks etc. to finally stay warm.  We found an extra blanket in the van the next night and stayed a whole lot warmer.  Its all apart of the experience I suppose :)

The next morning we found our breakfast to be drenched from the ice melt in our cooler......my container with cinnamon buns wasn't perfectly sealed.  Thankfully we bought some danish like dessert the night before and ate that for breakfast!  We also discovered that I hadn't packed important things like salt or sugar for tea.  Apparently prego people should not pack for camping!

Anyways that's all I have time for today............so you'll have to hear about the next few days in a few days.
