Christmas News Letter
For our out of town guests I sent our Christmas letter, but I thought maybe you blog readers would like to read it too 
. So here it is. Its a long one!
ABCDE News
Another year has passed by and once again it was full of many rich blessings. We pray that your year too has been full of God’s goodness and grace as well. We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for providing us with such a wonderful year. We’ll give you a quick update of 2010...
A is now 4 years old and quite excited about it. She is busy learning new things every day. She is often found writing letters to all of her friends and wants to know how to spell their names. She learned to spell out our family’s names except for the latest member. She is a very social girl wanting a friend over or going to their house. The other day she said, “Mom can I go to a friend’s house, I don’t feel like playing with Beth today.” Some other highlights of her life are becoming a big sister again, passing swimming lessons, camping, biking, baking with mom and helping doing photo shoots with her own camera, learning piano with Dad or Auntie L.
B is 2.5 years old and is chatting up a storm in English this year. She is very fond of her big sister and often found playing exactly what she is told to do. It’s actually amazing that she does have her own imagination when big sis is out on a play date. The truer, calmer 2.5 year old appears a little less mischievous. She also “loves to make messes” says Dad. Being dirty doesn’t bother her one bit. Highlights for her are learning to ride a bike with training wheels, swimming with just her floaty, getting herself dressed and potty training herself (yes herself). She also loves that fact that she is a big sister and always wants to help out.
C has put into practice this year her new found love of photography. For Christmas last year her dear husband splurged on her new hobby by buying a DSLR. The camera has been well put into practice with a big trip in Europe (more to come), and taking family photo’s as well as friends photo’s, engagements and even a wedding (4500 pictures in a year!). Besides photography she is keeping busy taking care of the family and household needs.
D is still happily working at IMW. The company has grown immensely including the engineering department which has 16 men working in it. This means that 15 of them report to D. This does bring stress to a job, but D handles it well and only vents out once in a while to his wife. She doesn’t mind listening though. He also does a fair amount of traveling with his job and enjoys that as well. The company was also bought out by an American company this year, which is sad because there aren’t too many Canadian companies, but it really does the company and D good.
D has also been busy with church life as he became an elder this year. We know God has placed him in this position and pray for strength as currently it isn’t the easiest “job” out there. D also of course is very busy with projects around the home when he has a spare minute....including putting up a projector, installing a new furnace and built in vacuum cleaner. There is no crawl space in the house so he has been squishing into some interesting places in the attic. Thankfully he hasn’t got stuck yet.
E, the newest member of the family, mostly just loves to be cuddled by his mom. He does give out smiles regularly and other than that is doing a lot of eating, sleeping and pooping. What can you say for a 5 week old?
And this brings us to the other happenings in life. I think almost every month someone was out travelling somewhere. In January C, A, and B travelled to Calgary for a visit of the newest member of the family little N.V. B flew for free the last time in her life. It was also a good time visiting with C’s sisters and of course the girls had a blast with their Calgary cousins.
In February D’s mom turned 50. We had fun celebrating this occasion including throwing her a good surprise lunch. Also in February the Olympics came to Vancouver.......who knew 2010 would have come that quickly! We received tickets from D’s parents to go watch a snowboarding event, but our seats were cancelled due to the rain we were having. We still went with all the siblings into Vancouver to experience Olympic festivities. And even though there was lots of rain in the valley mountains, it didn’t stop us from going on a ski trip to Sunpeaks with friends at the end of the month.
March was a big month for D. He travelled to China for 10 days. This is the longest business trip he’s being away from home. Than in April D travelled through 8 American States in 5 days to visit vendors. I guess business travelling isn’t always fun. In May no one travelled far from home, but D and C did enjoy listening to a Michael W. Smith concert.
Than in June was the big trip of the year. D left for Israel on the 1st of June and C and J met up with him in Italy on June 5. The first few days were spent in Rome and the last few days were spent in Venice. For the better stories you can read them in the June and July pages of C’s blog.
In July we packed up our van and took a road trip to Calgary. D was eager to leave by 5 am and so packed up all the girls and hit the road. The girls travelled very well and we had a great time in Calgary.
In August we met up with all of C’s family for some camping at Shuswap. Other than a little rain we enjoyed swimming, boating, playing games and catching up as siblings. Also C won the adult cookie competition and A was runner up for the kid’s cookie competition. Yes, we all ate a lot of chocolate chip cookies that week!
In September we took another big trip with the kids to the Oregon coast. This was the first time we slept in the tent with both girls. The rain started to pour down on our last day so we cheated and took cover in a hotel.
In October, C and D spent one night away in Vancouver and had some relaxation time before the baby arrived in early November. E was the biggest highlight of our year and we are glad everything is well with him. He has adjusted to our family and we’ve adjusted to having him around and can’t imagine life without him anymore. D did travel in November for 2 days to California, but December has been quiet. We hope God will bless us once again with many experiences and family enjoyment as we’ve had in 2010. We pray this for all of you too.
