Vacation the travel portion


So we dropped the littlest man off at his (great) uncle and aunts house on our way to the airport. We arrived in Vancouver safe and sound. Plenty of time to spare to scan the irises of my eyes.  Put luggage on the conveyor belt hoping to meet up with it 15 hours or so later!
Really an eneventful trip to the airport! That's always a good thing!

Next we landed safe and sound in la airport. 7 hours of People watching!  Oh and some shopping. I couldn't find my flip flops for the life of me back home. I'm not a lover of my cheap old baby ones...thankfully LA is known for beaches so they had flip flops!!!  I'm slowly breaking them in. 
We also thought now was a good time to take lots of walks. I think we walked up and down this one hall way 20 times. Doesn't help being indecisive about dinner. 
The third thing we did was pull out our Spanish learning app!  Yes good timing right?? Who absorbs anything at that time of day. And talk about procrastinating. 
Well before we knew it it should be boarding time. We felt a little like minority's. I was definitely the only red head in the area. 
Then everything said is in Spanish. The flight was over booked. We were tempted to take the next flight(2 days later 😜) and the $1300/person Amex gift card.  But the sun and heat was calling us!  
After an hour of craziness standing in the airport listening to the Spanish sales they managed to find enough room for those who wanted to fly  and hand out enough bribes!
We made it on board and we're thankful for the English flight attendants who spoke to me in English and D in Spanish. See I'm the minority 😉
We landed in El Salvador an hour late. Upon standing up D and I felt like Giants!  I guess Canadians are tall!
We made it through customs and to a wonderful driver. 
I will tell the stories of our drive tomorrow?

A little bubbly

This was the very first night that I officially slept well.  Finally transitioned over to the Dutch time zone.... Started the day with by filling the stomach with a good Dutch style breakfast.  If you're not Dutch could you guess what it is? With full stomachs we headed out for the day.  It was a rather frightening start down the skinny Dutch little road.  It barely can handle a bike and a car passing each other.  So to our surprise a massive semi truck was barreling down the road.  We pulled over in a pullout but  became trapped between a large truck and the canal. That canal was not looking too pretty for a swim.... Glad we didn't end up going for that swim and the we had no extra rental car bills to pay as the truck nearly missed the sideview mirror.  After safely arriving to the park n' ride we caught the bus.  This is a fantastic system if you're in Holland!  It cost 5 Euro to park the car and ride the bus for up to 5 people! ...

Trips and treasures

A little while ago I put the link back up on my social media page from a blog about Mother's Day.  Although I get very emotional about the day and the upcoming to the day with my precious Mom being in heaven, I do remember that I have the honour of celebrating motherhood and celebrating with other mothers in my life.  I know it can be a difficult day for many in different ways.   My one little guy who hangs out with me a lot gave me a special treat when I was down....how can you not resist his smile, with a card, cup of water and an apple all delivered with that big smile and even bigger heart. Shortly after that day I was given the privilege of going on a much desired field trip with my daughter.  If you know me at all, or even through this blog you know how much I desire the ocean and the wonders of it.  This trip to Salt Spring Islands did not fail me or my wonder of our wonderful creator.  We have so much more to experience from the ocean..... ...

2021

 Turned the calendar to 2021 a while ago and just have not sat down behind the computer to type away in a while.  I just had those summer 2020 blog posts waiting to be completed.  At last that goal was accomplished and I feel like the rest of 2020 went awash......I made a video to summarize our year and felt like that was good enough to complete the year.   I won't say our 2021 had the most marvellous start.  Our family was in isolation and I can't remember what day it was of 24 days being inside our home that we rolled the new year in.  However we were loved upon by many family members and friends over the time of being indoors.  Also what better time in the world to be "stuck" at home as you can get your grocery deliveries and any other shopping done and delivered all within 24 hours.  We did not suffer.  We may have been a little stir crazy at points, but we made the best of it!
