Florida

So it's official we made our way to our long awaited vacation. After saving and planning and working  hard we made our way here.  On Friday to get the kids to do their dishes without complaining we made the promise to open Our pig Florida. The kids put all their hard earned money from water and. Lemonade stands, bottle depot runs (thanks to Friends, family and neighbours for contributing) into this pig. Miss A. Made this pink creature in art class.  They took our  soup ladle and whacked the pig until she broke and spilled our over $150......I'm sure the kids are going to have fun spending that money on souvenirs....what to buy?

Saturday was a mad dash around the house, cleaning, tree planting, re- cleaning, laundry, cleaning again. Oh I didn't mention my sister and her family are staying for a while in our home....hopefully it meets her standards.  This Florida home doesn't feel super clean...hope she doesn't have that feeling.

Sunday we enjoyed church services and headed to Seattle in the evening to bounce on beds and swim in the hotel pool.

Monday morning was an early start, but no kids had a hard time getting out of bed for some reason.  Can we say EXCITED!!!!!!!

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the hotel and hopped on the 7am shuttle for the airport. We took the whole trunk space with luggage. This was exciting for the kids especially Mr. E as he didn't need a booster or car seat. And all those airplanes we drove past. If only you could see his big eyes and concentrated face with a few yells of an airplane an airplane!

We made our way somehow into the airport with 4 kids, 6 suitcases, 5 backpacks/bags 2 car seats and a stroller and no coffee in our system. By the time we were done rearranging seats and luggage and going through security while answering a hundred questions it was time to board.  Nope didn't say time to breathe yet....

Now we were sitting 3 in the nice roomy front seats and 3 in the back squishy seats for take off.  I was with miss B and mr J. One fell asleep before take-off while the other giggled in glee. The oldest was frightened and of course Mr. E was thrilled.

As we were up in the air the flight attendants managed to get all of us into 6 squishy seats close together. We had more fun being together as a family. The kids all did awesome on the no tv flight.  We received many compliments on our good kids.  As parents we just were so thankful for their good behaviour.....now the van ride to our condo....mmmm....ok our kids are like anyone else's.

We found our condo thanks to the wonderful GPS and explored the interior and cooked some dinner. Almost smoked ourselves out of the condo mind you. I don't think the oven has been used or cleaned in a while.

Before week knew it it was time to tuck everyone into bed.  Oh except Mr J he had to be tucked in our bed. Good thing it's a king and he can have his own space. We didn't want to place him in a rotten milk smelling pack n play.

Today D had to work.  Yes he worked...poor guy. The rest of us had a lazy wake-up, ate pancakes for breakfast (a little boys favourite) and after lazily getting ready it the hot and humid outdoors to explore the pool area and the beach and ever so warm ocean.  We slowly made our way back to the air conditioned condo. The girls worked in some work books since they are missing extra days of school.

Now our 2 year old....let's see what did he do?  Managed to create a permanent waterfall on my iPod and locked all the backpacks in the closet. Now this closet is only accessible by a key that doesn't exist.   Lets just say it's been an adventure trying to jimmy the lock or break through the vent to squeeze a kid in, getting a hold of the condo holder to help us out. No success yet. Anyone with advice?

D managed to have a few spare hours to hang out with us and try break into closets ( we make horrible thieves) before heading to the airport for a flight to the Bahamas. (Yes his job is rough). Apparently he is stuck in customs though...

Everyone is tucked into bed here after a nice rainy (warm rain) evening walk.  We will see if the vent can be opened and a kid can rescue the bags. Or the owner can manage to figure out something.  I'm sure we will laugh about it all in a few weeks.

(Photos of our trip will be posted when we get home)
